translation is connection
It brings together people from all corners of the world through understanding, fomenting compassion and cooperation in the process. Although the diversity of the components that make up our languages is as wide and deep as the ocean, what they express when we put them together is universal. The human experience does not belong to anyone, nor does any language express it better or more completely than any other.
English and Spanish are two of the most widely used languages on the planet, and I feel very fortunate and proud to have the opportunity to join such an immense number of people through language: the most human of the tools at our disposal.
I am a Canadian translator currently based in Thunder Bay, Ontario. I received my Certificate in Translation into Spanish from the University of Toronto in 2019 after a life-long interest in linguistics and, especially, Romance languages (along with Spanish, I speak French and Portuguese).
I have traveled extensively in Latin America in order to deepen my understanding of the idiosyncrasies of the varieties of Spanish spoken there, as well as to enrich my knowledge and understanding of the cultural heritage of the region, similar in many ways due to the contributions of the Spanish over three centuries, but so different due to the heterogeneity of the peoples and landscapes.
I work hard to ensure that my translations are accurate, culturally-appropriate, and natural.
